We have developed a three-step framework to promote gender analysis, in response to the decisions made by WLN in 1998. The first two steps have been accomplished successfully. They are the “sex-disaggregated data base” which has a significant infrastructure and the published “Images of Women in Taiwan” written by gender experts. The latter shows the difference between women and men in Chinese Taipei and the abstract is in both Chinese and English.
We are half-way through the last step of the framework which establishing a “general gender criteria.” It is based on AGGI framework and social perspectives of our country. The developments of categories such as employment-economy-welfare, violence against women, health and education/mass media/culture are currently underway. These criteria will be used to assess the decision-making process, policy planning, implementation and evaluation.
