    The Thai government realizes that women make up about 48 percent of the total workforce and have been successful in raising gender awareness at the policy level aiming to empower women.  To enhance women・s participation in the decision- making process, a considerable proportion of women are encouraged to present in the national committees of several economic bodies through the cabinet・s approval, as well as supported women・s equal seats in the Executive Committees of the Village and Urban Revolving Funds. 

    Thailand National Commission on Women・s Affairs (TNCWA) is the current leading body for the advancement of women in Thailand. It advocates :Perspectives and Programs on Women・s Development (1995-2015); to improve women・s status in society.  This plan contains seven programs to facilitate progression and subsequent activities such as monitoring and evaluation.  Program 1 is the development of women's potential and quality of life;  program 2 is the Promotion of women's legal equality, safety protection and welfare; program 3 is the women's participation in societal development; program 4 is the improvement and solution of problems of special groups of women; program 5 is the improvement of mechanisms for the advancement of women; program 6 is the advocacy and dissemination of information on women; program 7 is the research and data on women.
